Paul Ekas

President | SAKE Robotics

Paul has been on the leading edge of electronics and system design for 30 years. He lead the planning team at Altera that defined the Gen10 FPGA product series. Paul’s first patent submitted in 1993, “Digitally weighted neuron for artificial neural network” helped him recognize the awesome capabilities these FPGAs and similar devices would enable for real-time neural processing. Paul believes that the rapid advances in machine learning will enable robots to operate in unstructured environments enabling vast new market opportunities. Paul founded SAKE Robotics in 2015 and CleverPick Automation in 2019. Paul has patents granted in robotics, FPGAs, transceivers, memories, neural networks, security and IP protection. In 2018, Paul with Girts Linde (cofounder of CleverPick Automation) developed the first cartesian mobile picking robot to compete in the JD.com mobile picking challenge. This robot and system is designed to enable low-cost, fast, reliable mobile picking in structured and unstructured environments.
