Dr. Animesh Garg is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Toronto and a Faculty Member at the Vector Institute. The principal focus of Dr. Garg’s research is to understand representations and algorithms to enable the efficiency and generality of learning for interaction in autonomous agents. Animesh earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley where he was a part of the Berkeley AI Research center and the Automation Science Lab. He was also a postdoc in Dept. of Computer Science at Stanford University and spent time as a Senior Researcher at Nvidia. His research has been recognized with Best Conference Paper Awards at IEEE ICRA’19 and IEEE CASE’12, Best Video at Hamlyn Symposium on Surgical Robotics’15, and Best Paper Finalists at IEEE ICRA’15 and IROS’19. And his work has also featured in press outlets such as the New York Times, IEEE Spectrum, Stanford News, UC Health, UC CITRIS News, and BBC Click.
